Delbert B. Giffin
DANVILLE — Delbert Burns Giffin, 96, of Jelloway Road, Danville, died Friday,
June 9, 2006, at the Morning View Care Center in Danville.
He was born April 27, 1910, in Knox County to the late Abe and Barbara (Baldner) Giffin. On Aug. 5, 1950, he was married to Virginia Long.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia; nephews, Robert and James Sharp; a niece, Nancy Statler; friends, Barbara and Harry Dunn, John and Patty Groseclose and Susette Crawford; and his loving dog and companion, Judy.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Roy, Charles and Curtis Giffin; a sister, Gertrude Sharp; a nephew, Ralph Giffin; and nieces, Anna Bell Humphery and Helle Pennal.
A funeral service will be Monday, June 12, at 2 p.m. at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville. Burial will be in Wesley Chapel Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. Information is available at www.fischerfuneralhome.com.
Ruth A. Layton
MOUNT VERNON — Ruth A. Layton, 51, of Florence Street, Mount Vernon, passed
away Friday, June 9, 2006, at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon.
She was born March 30, 1955, in Franklin County to James and Nancy (Wayne) Foshee. Ruth was employed as a licensed practical nurse and she served in the U.S. Army from 1972 to 1974.
Besides her parents she is survived by a son, Edward Layton II of Mount Vernon; a daughter, Amanda (Gary) Priest of Mount Vernon; five grandchildren, James, Anna, Kathryn, Allena and Abigail; four brothers, Michael (Nancy) Foshee of New Holstein, Wis., James Foshee of Alexandria, Timothy (Melanie) Foshee of Marengo, Anthony (Shelia) Foshee of Westerville; a sister, Dolly Foshee of Columbus; and special friend, Jeff Mankins.
Friends may call Tuesday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon. A funeral service will follow at the funeral home at 2 p.m. Burial will be at a later date.
