Burnice Pierpont
BEAVER DAMS, N.Y. — Burnice A. Pierpont, 92, of Beaver Dams, N.Y., died
July 27, 2006, at Seneca View Skilled Nursing Facility in Montour Falls, N.Y.
Burnice was born in Muncie, Ind., on June 25, 1914, the daughter of Raymond and Effie (Dickover) Muston. She had worked as a physical education instructor in Utica, was employed with Corning Glass Works and the Beaver Dams Post Office, and was one of the first women firefighters in Schuyler County with the Beaver Dams Fire Co. She was a member of the Beaver Dams United Methodist Church. Until her confinement at Seneca View in 2005, she and her husband spent winters at their home in the Riverview/Ruskin, Fla., area.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Arthur C. Pierpont; children, Jarred A. (Carol) Pierpont, the Rev. E. Richard (Elsie) Pierpont, Rosalie S. Slater and Janet E. (David) Harvey; 10 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; twin sister, Bonnie; two other sisters; and three brothers.
Funeral and burial were in Beaver Dams. The Haughey-Wood Funeral Home at Watkins Glen, N.Y., was in charge of the arrangements.
Michael P. Sheldon
CENTERBURG — Michael P. “Mike” Sheldon, 61, of Centerburg went
home to be with the Lord Thursday evening, Aug. 17, 2006, at St. Ann’s Hospital
in Westerville after a long battle with cancer.
He was born in Columbus on Aug. 6, 1945, to the late Nellie Jane (Smith) Sheldon and Tom Sheldon of Fremont. He was a U.S. Army veteran and had worked at Metal Container Corp. in Columbus for 28 years.
He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda (Hess) Sheldon, whom he married June 17, 1972, in Clintwood, Va.; sons, Randy (Stephanie) Bosworth of Centerburg and Steve Sheldon of Columbus; daughter, Rhonda (Neil) Watson of Centerburg; seven grandchildren; brother, Joe (Debbie) Sheldon; sisters, Melinda (Marty) Jenkins, Nancy (Clancy) Haudenschild and Mary Jane (Tom) Dearring; and mother-in-law, Lula Hess.
Friends may call Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Ohio 3 at Ohio 61, Sunbury, where service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. with Elmer Ball and Pastor Mark Tuggle officiating. Interment will follow in the Eastview Cemetery.
