Caryl L. Litt
FREDERICKTOWN — Caryl L. Litt, 81, of Fredericktown passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2006, at the Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Synder Funeral Home in Fredericktown.

Allen J. McCaulley Memorial notice
HOWARD — Allen James McCaulley, 79, of Apple Valley, Howard, died Friday afternoon, Sept. 22, 2006, in Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus, after a brief illness.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 27, at 6 p.m. in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Mount Vernon, conducted by his son-in-law, Ron Hyde. There will be a dinner following services, at the Mount Vernon Developmental Center at 7 p.m. Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home, Loudonville, is assisting the family with arrangements. Patricia Ann Rice
GAHANNA — Patricia Ann Rice, 68, of Gahanna passed away suddenly on Monday, Sept. 25, 2006, at her home.

Ann was born on Aug. 5, 1938 in Mount Vernon to the late Homer “Cy” and Vernice Rice. Ann was a 1956 graduate of Mount Vernon High School and attended Bliss College and later The Ohio State University. Ann retired from the Ohio State Highway Patrol after 30 years of service. She was a proud member of the Gahanna Lions Club and had served as the secretary of that club for the past 15 years. Ann was a breast cancer survivor and a strong supporter of several cancer awareness, prevention and research organizations.

Ann was a caring, generous, kind and loving aunt and great-aunt. She is survived by her nephews, Drew (Melissa) Skillman and Ed (Lyn) Skillman; nieces, Victoria (Dr. Ron) Haudenschilt, Jacqueline (Ron) Walters and Jennifer Bravard; 10 great-nieces and great-nephews; 10 great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Reta (John) Skillman.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, Sept. 28, at the Schoedinger Northeast Chapel in Gahanna (1051 East Johnstown Road, Gahanna) from 6 to 7 p.m. A memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. A graveside service will be held on Friday beginning at 11 a.m. at Mound View Cemetery in Mount Vernon, with Rev. Jamie Gump officiating. The arrangements are under the care and direction of the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon.

George T. Smith
HOWARD — George T. Smith, 77, of King Beach Drive, Howard, passed away on Monday, Sept. 25, 2006, at The Laurels of Mount Vernon.

He was born on Sept. 1, 1929, in Seward, N.Y. George was employed as an electrical engineer for Lucent Technology and was a veteran serving in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marlene (Fersch) Smith; a daughter, Cyndi Ryan of Rochester, N.Y.; a son, Patrick John (Debbie) Smith of Grayson, Ga.; and a granddaughter, Jessica O’Loughlin.

There will be no calling hours. The family will observe a private memorial service at a later date. The arrangements are under the care and direction of the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home.
