John F. Barton
MOUNT VERNON — John F. Barton, 83, of Mount Vernon died Friday evening, Oct. 29, 2006, at Knox Community Hospital. The North-Dilley Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Thomas ‘Ed’ Campbell
ANN ARBOR, Mich. — A funeral service for Thomas Edward “Ed” Campbell, 87, of Ann Arbor, Mich., formerly of Mount Vernon, will be held Monday, Oct. 2, at 10 a.m. at Law-Baker Funeral Home with Torie Front officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Cemetery, Fredericktown.

Mr. Campbell died Sept. 29, 2006, at Arbors Hospice, Ann Arbor, Mich. He was born Oct. 27, 1918, in Fredericktown, to the late Floyd and Mary (Davis) Campbell.

Ed also resided in Edgewater, Fla., for 25 years. During World War II he served as a machinist at a tire plant in Akron. He was retired from farming and as a machinist with Continental Can; and was a member of the Moose Lodge, Mount Vernon.

He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Neil Campbell of Cookeville, Tenn., Mark Campbell of Shilo, Myron and Chris Campbell of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Ned and Cindy Campbell of Newark; daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Steve Baker of Bellevue, and Luann and David Aknai-Campbell of Oberwil, Switzerland; eight grandchildren; and a brother, Henry Campbell of Mount Vernon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Frances (Crouch) Campbell; sister, Ethel Pletcher; and brothers, Carl and Ernest Campbell.

Doris E. Cordrey
MOUNT VERNON — Doris Elizabeth Cordrey, 75, of Mount Vernon died Friday, Sept. 29, 2006, at the Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon after becoming ill at her home.

W.R. ‘Bill’ Ewalt
FREDERICKTOWN — William R. “Bill” Ewalt, 79, of Hyatt Road, Fredericktown, passed away Friday, Sept. 29, 2006, at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon.

He was born Oct. 30, 1926, in Mount Vernon to Robert “Caddy” and Ada (Van Voorhis) Ewalt. Bill attended Miami University, was employed as a salesman at Stevens Pontiac in Fredericktown, was a member of the Berlin United Methodist Church, and enjoyed fishing and traveling with his wife.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, JoAnn (Peugh) Ewalt; a son, Daniel Ewalt of Era, Texas; three daughters, JoLynn (Robert) Yoder of Leetonia, Karen Ewalt of San Diego, Calif., and Joyce Rojas of Riverside, Calif.; five grandchildren; and a brother, Charles (Pearl) Ewalt of Las Vegas, Nev.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home, Fredericktown, where service will begin at 11 a.m. Pastor Mark Parsons will officiate. Burial will follow in Mound View Cemetery, Mount Vernon.
