Name

Jennings B. Grimm
NEW OXFORD, Pa. — Jennings B. Grimm, formerly of Zion Road, Gambier, died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2006, at the Cross Keys Village of the Brethren Home Community in New Oxford, Pa.

He is survived by his wife, Miriam (Pierson) Grimm. Born Oct. 3, 1925, in York, Pa., to Blanche (Rimkus) and Jennings B. Grimm Sr., he attended West York High School and Franklin & Marshall College, Lancaster, Pa. He was a refrigeration designer at York Corp. and Bendix, retiring from St. Onge, Ruff Associates in York in 1989. He was president of York Engineering Society in 1973-74; a 50-year member of White Rose Lodge 706, F&AM; York-Gethsemane Commandery 21; Chapter 199; Zembo Temple; and Zembo Shriners.

While living in Gambier, he was a member of Varsity Sunday School Class, Gay Street United Methodist Church, Mount Vernon. He also volunteered at the Ohio Eastern Star Home and worked for the Harrison Township Supervisors.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Norman Van Grimm (Vickie) of Manassas, Va.; one daughter, Carol Ann Larimer (Lynn) of Columbus, Ohio; one brother, Clair Grim (Beatrice), and one sister, Elmira Wise, both of York; three grandchildren, Justin, Chelsea and Paul Grimm of Manassas, Va.; one niece; and one nephew.

Following cremation, a memorial service was held Monday, Nov. 20, at Calvary United Methodist Church in York, Pa., with Pastor Robert Wallace officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary UMC, 11 N. Richland Ave., York, PA 17404. The Feiser Funeral Home, 302 Lincolnway West, New Oxford, Pa., is in charge.

James T. O’Connor
NEWARK — James Thomas O’Connor, 53, of Newark died Monday, Nov. 20, 2006, at Newark Health Care Center. There are no services.

Mr. O’Connor was born Feb. 24, 1953, in Pensacola, Fla., to James Thomas and Amanda (Parrish) O’Connor.

He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Grether; mother, Amanda Thomas; grandchildren, Shaina, Caitlyn and Aaron; brothers, Richard Parrish of Georgia and Robert Thomas of Cleveland.

E. Lavilla ‘Billie’ Phillips
FREDERICKTOWN — E. Lavilla “Billie” Phillips, 76, of Sparta Road, Fredericktown, passed away Sunday, Nov. 19, 2006, at the Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon.

Billie was born Dec. 14, 1929, in Ankenytown to Walter and Minnie (Wells) Hawkins and had spent her lifetime in the Fredericktown community. She married Howard Phillips on June 6, 1948, at the Danville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Glenn Lockert officiating. Together Billie and Howard operated their family dairy farm near Fredericktown. Billie had been employed at the former Fink’s Drug Store in Fredericktown where she was known to make the best milkshake in town. She also had been employed at Gregg Manufacturing in Fredericktown. Billie served as a 4-H advisor for many years and was an active member of the Green Valley United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Howard; her son, Scott Phillips of Fredericktown; her daughter, Karen (Philip) Davis of Leesburg; five grandchildren, Jason (Tara) Davis of Hillsboro, Brenda Davis of Pickerington, Chris (Kerry) Phillips of Fredericktown, Eryn (Sam) Fawcett of Chicago and Brady (Erica) Phillips of Powell; four great-grandchildren, Lucas Phillips, Kaley Davis, Andrew Davis and Allison Davis; her brother, Paul (Peggy) Wells of Fredericktown; and two sisters, Dorothy Wiggins of Fredericktown and Thelma Ridenour of Newark.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a grandson, Brian Davis; and three brothers, Luther Wells, Carl Wells and Francis “Butch” Hawkins.

Friends may call today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown, where funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Sam Troyer officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Cemetery in Fredericktown.
