Lenora R. Beckley
WALHONDING — Lenora R. Beckley, 70, of Stricker Road, Walhonding, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2007, at MedCentral in Mansfield.

She was born Aug. 5, 1936, in Logan to the late Herman and Dorothy (Pargeon) Dickerson. Lenora was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Veterans of Foreign Wars, Danville Post 650. She had a love for gardening and taking care of her flowers.

She is survived by her loving husband, Richard Beckley; two sons, Michael Beckley of Walhonding and Gerald (Carrie) Wicker of Mount Vernon; two daughters, Kimberly Singer of Columbus and Kristy (Mike) Slinger of Thornville; seven grandchildren; four brothers, Gilbert (Mary) Dickerson of Mount Vernon, Gary (Norma) Dickerson of Howard, Leonard (Dottie) Dickerson of Gambier and Ralph (Beth) Dickerson of Howard; and two sisters, Mary Ellen Frazee of Gambier and Betty Steinmetz of Fredericktown.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Auker.

Friends may call Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, where a service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Ben McKinstry will officiate. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.

Raymond L. Edwards
OKEECHOBEE, Fla. — Raymond L. Edwards, 72, of Okeechobee Buckhead Ridge, died Dec. 27, 2006, at his home.

Mr. Edwards was born Sept. 19, 1934, in Frazeysburg, Ohio, to Herbert and Nellie Edwards. He retired after 35 years as a salesman in the telephone business. Mr. Edwards came to Okeechobee from Sarasota in 2001. He was of the Methodist faith and was instrumental in forming the Men’s Auxiliary Post 9528 in Buckhead Ridge, where he served as president for three years and treasurer for 2006. He was a loving husband and father who passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side.

Mr. Edwards is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sally Edwards; five sons, Mark (Beth) Edwards of Westchester, Ohio, Jeff (Judy) Edwards of Holly Hill, Fla., Tracy (Susan) Edwards of Sarasota, Fla., John Edwards of Melbourne, Fla., and Scott Edwards of Haliewa, Hawaii; two daughters, Lisa (Tom) Ernst of Waterford, Conn., and Susan (John) Marra of Kernersville, N.C.; brother, George (Lola) Edwards of Westerville, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

A memorial service was held Jan. 21 at Auxiliary Post 9528 in Buckhead Ridge. Mr. Edwards final resting place is in Maggie Valley, N.C.

Clark Hollis
MOUNT VERNON — Clark Hollis, 86, of Mount Vernon died Wednesday evening, Jan. 24, 2007, at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon. Phillip L. Smith
BRINKHAVEN — Phillip LeRoy Smith, 52, of Brinkhaven passed away Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2007, at the Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon.
