Mary J. Magers
MOUNT VERNON — Mary Jane Magers, 87, of Beech Street, Mount Vernon, passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2007, at The Laurels of Mount Vernon.

She was born Sept. 11, 1919, in Blissfield to William D. and Goldie S. (Dobson) Wilson. Mary was employed as the housekeeper at the Hotel Curtis here in Mount Vernon.

She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Dobson; a brother, Robert Wilson; and her very dear friends, Chalmer “Sam” and Gerri Reed.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, William Magers; two sisters, Erma Croskey and Elise Harding; and four brothers, Orvy, William, Roy and Georald Wilson.

A memorial service will be Wednesday, March 21, beginning at 11 a.m. at the Pine Street Church of God, with Rev. Bill Fulda officiating. Richard L. Shields
MOUNT VERNON — Richard L. Shields, 75, of Johnstown Road, Mount Vernon, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2007, at his home.

He was born March 17, 1931, in Parks, W.Va., to the late Edward and Jennie (Edwards) Shields. Richard was employed and retired from Timken Roller Bearing as a machinist. He was a member of the Moose lodge in Marion, the Milford Church of Christ, he loved to garden and woodworking and had a special interest in playing and collecting musical instruments.

He is survived by his sons, Roy (Malinda) Shields of Centerburg and Kenneth (Linda) Shields of Mount Vernon; a daughter, Sherry Burson of Barnesville; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Glenn (Bonnie) Shields of Ocean City, N.J.

Richard was preceded in death by three brothers, Eddie, David and Ronnie Shields; and two great-grandchildren, Kylee Shields and Austin Burson.

Friends may call on Sunday, March 18, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home. A service will be held on Monday at the Milford Church of Christ beginning at 11 a.m. with Gary Thomas and Russell Wadell officiating. Burial will follow in Moreland Cemetery.
