Betty I. Bumpus
MILTON, Fla. — Betty I. (Bevington) Bumpus, 81, of Milton,
Fla., formerly of Mount Vernon and Mansfield, died Sunday, March 25, 2007, at
the Santa Rosa Nursing Home in Milton, Fla.
Betty was born March 5, 1926, in Mount Vernon to Ernest E. and Bertha (Hissong) Bevington.
Surviving are her husband, William S. Bumpus Jr.; her son, Frank Bumpus of Johnson City, Tenn.; her two daughters, Kathleen “Kathy” Yates of Hickman, Tenn., and Christine “Chris” Mullins of Milton, Fla.; 15 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Steve Bumpus; seven brothers, Delbert Bevington, Kenneth Bevington, William Bevington, Albert Bevington, Wilson Bevington, Paul Bevington and Dwight “Ernie” Bevington; and four sisters, Cora Bevington, Hazel Shryock, Helen Tims and Lucille Stahl.
Funeral services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. Burial will follow at Mound View Cemetery in Mount Vernon. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Justin ‘Jay’ Honaker
JOHNSTOWN — Justin O. “Jay” Honaker,
96, formerly of Centerburg, died March 26,2007, at Northview Senior Living Center
in Johnstown.
He retired from Uniroyal Goodrich, and was a member of Enterprise Baptist Church.
He is survived by children, Twila Shaw of Marengo, Violet Beard of Winter Springs, Fla., Lois (Jack) Kitzmiller of Naples, Fla., Peggy Fillinger of Powell and Ronald (Joy) Honaker of Washington Court House; 17 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Eileen (Bernard) Wilson of South Point; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys; daughters, Janet Gates and Doris Lind; and three grandchildren.
Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Johnson-Melick-Moreland Funeral Home, 49 W. Church St., Centerburg, where service will be Friday at 11 a.m. Chaplain Mark Tierce will officiate. Interment will be in Eastview Cemetery.

Katherine Lemasters
DELAND, Fla. — Katherine Lemasters, 93, of DeLand,
Fla., died Monday, March 26, 2007.
Mrs. Lemasters was born in Kendallville, Ind., and moved to DeLand in 1970 from Mount Vernon, Ohio. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Ronald; one daughter, Gayle Reed of Cambridge, Ohio; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Lankford Funeral Home in DeLand, Fla., is in charge of the arrangements.
Kathryn Ruppenthal
DOVER — Kathryn O. “Kate” Ruppenthal,
72, of Dover went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, March 18, 2007.
Born March 3, 1935, in Mount Vernon, she was a daughter of Rev. Stanley Tippett and Hazel Totman Tippett. Kate graduated from Kinsman High School, and, on July 18, 1953, married Donald E. Ruppenthal. The couple relocated that same year to Tuscarawas County. Kate was employed by the General Electric Co. at Dover, but first and foremost, she was a homemaker — a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She enjoyed gardening and cooking, and giving hugs to family and friends. She was a good person and a good neighbor. Kate was a member of the First United Methodist Church at Dover.
Survivors include her husband, Don; a son, Donald (wife, Cheryl) Ruppenthal Jr. of North Canton; two granddaughters, Nicole and Dana Ruppenthal; two sisters, Mary (husband, Robert) Withrow of Marion and Janice (husband, Dale) Crone of Dover; a brother-in-law, Harold Porter of Mount Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Kate was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Porter.
Her life was celebrated in a service Thursday, March 22, in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover. Pastor Cliff Price of Rivertree Christian Church in Massillon officiated. Burial was in Dover Burial Park.
