Anna B. Sant
MOUNT VERNON — Anna B. Sant, 78, of East Burgess Street, Mount Vernon, passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2007, at Knox Community Hospital.

She was born Sept. 21, 1928, in Maysville, Ky., to William and Bessie (Wilson) Day. Anna was employed at the Ames Department Store from which she retired. She was a lifetime member of the Moose where she held the office of Ohio Deputy Grand Regent, and was a member of the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church for over 60 years.

Anna is survived by three sons, Ken (Nancy) Sant of Mount Vernon, Keith (Vickie) Sant of Mount Vernon, Karl (Jeanette) Sant of Dublin; three daughters, Lynn (Michael) Musick of Mount Vernon, Lois (Duane) Newman of London, Leah (Robert) Slawson of Columbus; 20 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; a brother, Frank Day of Independence, Ky.; brother-in-law, I. Dean Heaton of Franklin; and a sister-in-law, Eleanor Britton of Columbus.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl K. Sant (1993); a son, Kingsley Sant; and three brothers, Charles, Oscar and James Day.

Friends may call Friday, March 30, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, with a Colonial City Moose Lodge, Women of the Moose service at 8 p.m. A service will be held Saturday, beginning at 9:30 a.m., at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Julian Eibin officiating. Burial will follow in Mound View Cemetery.

Viola A. Smith
MOUNT VERNON — Viola A. (Hill) Smith, 95, of Mount Vernon and formerly of Cleveland, died Wednesday, March 28, 2007, at the Rose Garden Nursing Home in Mount Vernon.

Viola was born Nov. 2, 1911, in Mount Vernon to Harry and Alice (Tyler) Hill, graduated from Mount Vernon High School and had spent most of her adult life in Cleveland. She had been employed as a housekeeper while in Cleveland and moved back to Mount Vernon in December 1991.

Besides her parents, her brother, James Eugene Hill, preceded Viola in death.

Graveside funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Mound View Cemetery in Mount Vernon, with the Rev. Marvin Haught officiating. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon.
