Frank L. Burson
MOUNT VERNON — Frank L. Burson, 88, of Mount Vernon died Monday, April 9, 2007, at Whispering Hills Care Center in Mount Vernon. The arrangements are under the care and direction of the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home.

Judith A. Hollar
FREDERICKTOWN — Judith A. Hollar, 61, of Salem Road, Fredericktown, died Sunday, April 8, 2007, at her residence.

She was born June 21, 1945, in Knox County to Francis King and Bettie (Rector) Scoles. She had attended the Waterford Church of Christ and was a past member of the Eagles of Mount Vernon.

She is survived by her loving family, her husband, Wendell Hollar; a son, Mark Tracy Wolfe of Mount Vernon; a daughter, Laura Horn of Mount Vernon; four grandchildren; her mother; three brothers, Robert King of Columbus, Don (Peggy) King of Mount Vernon and Francis (Donna) King Jr. of Mount Vernon; and three sisters, Sue Holcombe of Newark, Kay (Chuck) Copley of Mount Vernon and Linda Hunter of Mount Vernon.

Besides her father she was preceded in death by a daughter, Tammi Wolfe.

Friends may call Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home. The family will observe a private burial.

Daniel R. Lorey
SYLVIA, N.C. — Daniel R. Lorey of Sylvia, N.C., died April 8, 2007, after a brief illness at Harris Regional Hospital in Sylvia.

He was born in Mount Vernon on July 22, 1942, to Ruth and Robert Lorey. Dan graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1960, and The Ohio State University in 1964 with a degree in business. He retired in 2005 from Western Carolina University, where he was director of grants and contract accounting.

He is survived by his wife, Diana (Wilson) Lorey; a daughter, Deena (Courtney) Williams of Oak Island, N.C.; a son, Dr. Daniel R. Lorey II of Ithaca, N.Y.; his mother, Ruth of Mount Vernon; a sister, Elizabeth (Jeffrey) Nagelbush of Big Rapids, Mich.; two grandsons, Christopher and Brandon; and two nieces, Sarah and Anna.

A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.

Betty S. Peterson
COLUMBUS — Betty Sue Peterson, 69, of Columbus, formerly of Mount Vernon, died Saturday, April 7, 2007, at 1:15 p.m. at her daughter’s home.

She was born Oct. 30, 1937, in Chillicothe, the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth (Bartlett) Smith. She married Martin B. Peterson on Dec. 16, 1955, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 8, 2006.

She is survived by her mother, Betty Bartlett of Chillicothe; one daughter, Beth (Tim) Bucher of Columbus; two sons, Brent Peterson of Mount Vernon and Jay Peterson of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Hannah and Nate Peterson, Chandler and Bailey Peterson, Chris Holden, and Tim and Pete Bucher; seven sisters, Georgia Hall, Linda Clay, Sandy Woods of Chillicothe, Judy Suddeth of St. Augustine Beach, Fla., Carol LaGore, Bobbie Jo Richardson and Sara Halloway of Chillicothe; and one brother, Bill Smith of New Holland.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Suzanne Peterson.

Betty had been active with the Mount Vernon Elks Lodge 140 Auxiliary for many years.

A memorial service will be held Friday, April 13, at 1 p.m. in the Frankfort Presbyterian Church with Pastor Greg McNichols officiating. Burial of the cremains will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort. Following the cemetery service, friends and relatives are asked to attend a luncheon at the Fellowship Hall of the church.
