Reva T. Hayes
MOUNT VERNON — Reva Thelma Hayes, 95, of Mount Vernon went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at The Laurels of Mount Vernon.

Reva was born Nov. 9, 1911, in Mount Vernon to Samuel J. and Sarah J. (Swartz) White. She was a graduate of Mount Vernon High School and Nyack College in Nyack, N.Y. Her husband, the Rev. Gerald Hayes, was a minister and Reva served as a deaconess and pianist with the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. Reva had also worked with her husband in their family-owned business “The Watch Shop” on Vine Street in Mount Vernon. She had been a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Mount Vernon since 1931.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, John L. and Marilyn Hayes of Fredericktown; and three grandsons, Stephen (Nancy) Hayes of Lynchburg, Va., Gerald L. (Tonya) Hayes of Marietta and John M. Hayes of Mount Vernon; and four great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, her husband, the Rev. Gerald C. Hayes in 1992, and her sister, Clio Hess Scott, preceded her in death.

Friends may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, where funeral service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Allen Rose officiating. Burial will follow at Brandon Cemetery. To send an online condolence to the family, visit www.snyderfuneralhomes.com.
