Albert C. Ekleberry
MOUNT VERNON — Albert Claude Ekleberry, 86, of Vernedale Drive, Mount Vernon, died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2007, at the Country Court Nursing Center in Mount Vernon.

He was born April 23, 1921, in Wyandot County, Ohio, to Orley and Bernice (Shedenhelm) Ekleberry. Albert retired after 22 years as chief pilot for Cooper-Bessemer Co. in Mount Vernon. He was a member of Mount Zion Lodge 9 F&AM, Scottish Rite, Aladdin Shrine Temple Valley of Columbus, Mount Vernon Country Club and Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church. Albert served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Beatrice (Ackerman) Ekleberry; and a sister, Gladys (Gerald) Von Stein of Nevada, Ohio.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Floyd Ekleberry and Neil Ekleberry.

The family will observe a private service at a later date. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.

Mable Mossholder
RICE, Texas — Mary Mable Mossholder, 88, of Rice, Texas, formerly of Mount Vernon, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Aug. 9, 2007.

She was born Sept. 16, 1918, to Minard L. and Lilly Ethel (Starrett) Burtnett in Somerset, Ohio. She was a longtime member of The Salvation Army, as well as, the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW and the Elks.

She was preceded in death by her first husband of 35 years, Theodore Cochran; her second husband of 13 years, Park Mossholder; five sons, Richard Lee Cochran, Dwight Allen Cochran, Walter Joseph Cochran, David Clifford Cochran and Howard Edwin Cochran; one sister; four brothers; one grandson, Paul Eugene Harding; and one great-great-granddaughter, Melinda Whittey.

She is survived by three daughters, Marie (John) Cazares of Copemish, Mich., Barbara DeBoard of Parker, Texas, and Ellen (James) McDuffie of Rice, Texas; one daughter-in-law, Patricia Cochran of Marengo; 25 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.

Friends and family may join together for a celebration of her life on Monday, Aug. 20, at Vineyard Church in Mount Vernon from 4 to 5 p.m. Funeral service and burial will follow with Pastor Chris Mackey officiating.

John Vardakas
MOUNT VERNON — John Vardakas, 60, of Vernonview Drive, Mount Vernon, died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2007, at The Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus.

He was born July 27, 1947, in Cleveland to Peter Vardakas and Isabella (Jackson) Vardakas.

He is survived by his father and stepmother, Peter and Josephine Vardakas of Plymouth Meeting, Pa.; a brother, Peter Vardakas of Parma; and a sister, Kathy Guera of Cleveland.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

A memorial service will be Monday, Sept. 17, at 2:30 p.m. at the Mount Vernon Developmental Center, 1250 Vernonview Drive, Mount Vernon, OH 43050. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is in charge of arrangements.
