Betty J. Evans
NEWARK — A graveside service for Betty J. Evans, 87, of Newark will be held Friday, Sept. 7, at 12:30 p.m. at Newark Memorial Gardens with Alan Pratt officiating.
Betty died Sept. 2, 2007, at Autumn Health Care, Newark. She was born July 23, 1920, in St. Louisville to the late William and Margery (Abbott) Cooksey. Betty was a homemaker and a member of the Utica Church of Christ. She graduated from Utica High School.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, J. Terry Evans, Licking County auditor, and his wife, Sandy of Newark; grandchildren, Greg Evans of Charleston, S.C., Julie Evans of Blacklick, Vanessa Clary of Newark and Derek (Wendy) Clary of Grove City; great-granddaughter, Ally Clary; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Helen Cooksey of Michigan, Kathleen and Ed Smith, Glenna Ritchey and Wilma Evans, all of Utica.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Cy Evans, who died Oct. 22, 2006; brother, James Cooksey; and sister, Mary K. Smith.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
