Bernice E. Gullett
HOWARD — Bernice E. Gullett, 82, of Schenck Creek Road, Howard, died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2007, at the Ohio Eastern Star Home in Mount Vernon.
Bernice was born Sept. 25, 1924, in Licking County to Clinton and Ellen (Stull) Brooks and had lived most of her lifetime in the Mount Vernon area. She was a graduate of Butler High School and the Mount Vernon Business College and had been employed as a secretary and accountant at the former Elephant Lumber Co. in Mount Vernon. Bernice was a faithful and active member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Mount Vernon where she started to attend when she was 3 years old. She was a member of the “Prime Timers,” and the Sunday school class, attended prayer meetings and was a link in the church’s prayer chain. In the past Bernice had been a Sunday school teacher and a member of the choir.
Surviving are her husband, Elmer Gullett, whom she married March 15, 1965; her daughter, Mary Ann (Norman) Areia of Chapel Hill, Tenn.; two sons, Gregory Gullett of Peoria, Ill., and Jeff (Shirley) Gullett of Chapel Hill, Tenn.; five grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and her sister, Dorothy Gallagher of Mount Vernon.
Her parents and a sister, Jane Teal, preceded her in death.
Friends may call Wednesday, Sept. 5, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. A funeral service will be Thursday, Sept. 6, at 11 a.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene, 807 Coshocton Ave., Mount Vernon, with the Rev. Dr. Mikel Norris officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
