Marion J. Carpenter

MOUNT VERNON — Marion J. Carpenter, 81, of Mount Vernon died Jan. 1, 2008, at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky.

He was born April 17, 1926, in Gambier to the late John Marion and Grace (Rowley) Carpenter. Marion was a member of the Central Church of Christ. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, former member of the Dan Emmett and Ponoma Grange, and the Fife and Drums Corps.

He is survived by a son, John Carpenter; three daughters, Roxanna Glancy, Linda (Bob) VanRiper and Karen Carpenter, all of Mount Vernon; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mariam Carpenter, in 1986; infant son, Michael Monroe Carpenter; brother, Harold Carpenter; granddaughter, Tina Glancy; and a great-granddaughter, McKenzie Haley Baker.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at Mound View Cemetery with Mr. Don Linn officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council. The North-Dilley Funeral Home is handling the family’s arrangements.
