John H. Curry

MOUNT VERNON — John Harold Curry, 86, of Mount Vernon, and formerly of Croton, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008, at Knox Community Hospital.

Funeral service will be Monday, Jan. 7, at 10 a.m. at Crouse-Kauber-Sammons Funeral Home, 225 N. Main St., Johnstown, with the Rev. Franklin Dunkle officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Johnstown.

Mr. Curry was born July 24, 1921, in Croton to Dennis and Mary (White) Curry. He retired after 45 years with the Cooper Energy Services, Mount Vernon. He was a member of the U.S. Army during World War II, and was a lifetime member of the National Riffle Association of America.

Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Barbara Curry of Mount Vernon; two sons, Larry (Jan) Curry of Gulfport, Fla., Gary (Barbara) Curry of Florida; daughter, Patty (Jim) Akers of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Larry Jr., Lori, Bryan, Sonya, Teresa, Jolene; several great-grandchildren; one brother, Loyal (Jean) Curry of Birmingham, Ala.

He was preceded in death by a son, Clifton Robbins.

Family will receive friends Sunday, Jan. 6, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
