MOUNT VERNON — Evelyn Talbott, 81, of North Main Street, Mount Vernon, passed away Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, at the Ohio Eastern Star Home in Mount Vernon.
She was born Feb. 12, 1926, in Detroit, Mich., to the late Edwin Neil and Florence Ruth (Chamberlain) Griggs. Evelyn was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fredericktown and the Country Culture Club within the Old Mansfield Road neighborhood.
She is survived by a son, Michael (Dixie) Talbott of Monticello, Minn.; a daughter, Viki (Ronald) Cochran of Fredericktown; five grandchildren, Joel (Joy) Cochran, Emily (Andrew) Roth, Staci (Jeff) Barth, Kari (Toma) Kraft and Jenni (Corey) West; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald (Sue) Griggs of Port Tobacco, Md.; two sisters, Gloria Ahl of Columbus and Janet McCalla of Worthington.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Max Talbott, in 1996. For years she and Max enjoyed touring the country by motorcycle with many of their friends.
Friends may call on Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown, where a funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. Friends may call one hour prior to the funeral. Pastor Dennis Turner will officiate. Burial will follow in Forest Cemetery in Fredericktown.
