Salvatore Tamburino
CENTERBURG — Salvatore Samuel Tamburino, 92, of Centerburg, formerly of Florida, passed away Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, at St. Ann’s Hospital in Westerville.
He was born Nov. 6, 1915, at Rome, N.Y., a son of Gabriel and Emanuela (Porta) Tamburino. Salvatore served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, earned the rank of Seaman Second Class and was classified 100 percent disabled by the Veterans Administration with Service Connected Injuries. He was a member of many Veterans of Foreign Wars Posts and American Legions across the United States. Salvatore was a Catholic by faith.
Salvatore is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Lorraine M. and Victor C. Stanson of Howard.
In following with Salvatore’s wishes, he will be cremated. The family will have a memorial service at a later date and his ashes will be scattered in the ocean near a San Diego Naval Base per his request.
