William W. Alberts
MOUNT VERNON — William W. Alberts, 76, of Mount Vernon died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008, at his residence.
William was born March 20, 1931, in Pleasant Township to J. Warren Alberts and Nellie (Robinson) Alberts and had spent his lifetime in the Mount Vernon area. He was employed for 30 years in construction with the Ohio Laborers Union and following his retirement he worked for 11 years at the Croton Egg Farm. William was a member of the Mount Vernon Eagles Lodge, the Mount Vernon AMVETS and Colonial City Moose Lodge in Mount Vernon. William was an avid sports fan most especially football.
Surviving are his daughters, Sharon (Harry) Wimer of Mount Vernon and Gerry (Jim) Danison of Danville; his sons, John (Linda) McManaway of Georgia and Ronald McManaway of Newark; his stepsons, Frank Frost and Pat Frost, both of Mount Vernon; 10 grandchildren, Michael (Gail) Scott, Joe (Cindy) McManaway, Charles (Jennifer) Moran, William (fiancee Rhonda) Moran, James (Melinda) Moran, Britta VanVoorhis, Tara (Jim), Angela (J.R.), Darrell (Nicki) Smith and Marvin (Debbie) Smith; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, William was preceded in death by his wife, Esther (Treese) Alberts; wife, Wanda (Thomason) Alberts; two granddaughters, Melissa Moran and Rhonda McManaway; a great-granddaughter, Melinda Mae; brothers, Colman Alberts, Orlo Alberts, Ralph Alberts and Allen Alberts; and sisters, Helen Weaver, Marcella Wolford and Amanda Oswalt.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon with Pastor Troy McNichols officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. until time of services at 3 p.m.
