L. Howard Jewell

WARREN — L. Howard Jewell, 91, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2008, at Gilletts Nursing Home.

He was born Jan. 5, 1917, in Kinsman, the son of Lloyd C. and Edna (Dingman) Jewell. He was a 1936 graduate of Vernon High School. He was a farmer, a salesman for Agrico Fertilizer. He attended auctioneer school in 1955, and Real Estate School in 1956, to obtain his broker license. He opened Jewell Real Estate and Auctioneer in Mount Gilead in 1958, and in Mount Vernon in 1960. He retired in 1986. He was a member of the Mount Gilead Presbyterian Church, the Gustavus Lodge 442, F&AM of Kinsman, the Scottish Rite 32nd Degree Mason and Aladdin Temple Shrine, both of Columbus.

Mr. Jewell was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Gordon Jewell.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy M. Thompson, whom he married Aug. 24, 1940. Also surviving is a brother, Harold D. Jewell of Warren; one niece, Joanne; three nephews, David, Randy and Bruce; and two great-nephews.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Jan. 30, at 11 a.m. at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 8569 Main St., Kinsman, with the Rev. Larry A. Myers officiating. Burial will follow in Kinsman Cemetery.
