Marcella Haas Swank

MOUNT VERNON — Marcella U. Haas Swank, 92, of Mount Vernon passed away Monday evening, Jan. 28, 2008, at the Autumn Health Care in Mount Vernon.

She was born Sept. 17, 1915, at Mount Vernon, a daughter of the late Reason and Celestia Marie (Bebout) Baker. Marcella was a homemaker and a member of the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ in Mount Vernon.

Marcella is survived by her sons, Richard P. (Patricia) Haas of Punta Gorda, Fla., and James D. (Jennifer) Haas of Mount Vernon; two stepdaughters, Marilyn Swank Mallwitz of Fairfax, Va., and Mary Margaret Swank Burkholder of Englewood, Ohio; five grandchildren, Michael Haas, Pamela Haas Phillips, Julie Haas Archer, Randy Haas and Richard A. Haas; three stepgrandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Marcella was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul S. Haas, in 1962; her second husband, David O. Swank, in 1987; brothers, Kenneth and Thurman Baker; and a sister, Velma Baker.

The family will have a private graveside service in Mound View Cemetery, Mount Vernon. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Mrs. Swank.
