Elvera R. Chopek

MOUNT VERNON — Elvera R. Chopek, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away Thursday, Jan. 31, 2008, with her family at her side, at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon.

She was born May 10, 1933, in Akron to the late Guiffepe and Lucia (Battaglia) Campailla. Elvera and her husband attended the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Mount Vernon.

She is survived by her husband, Michael Chopek; two sons, Joseph (Barbara) Chopek of Magnolia, Texas, and Mike (Stacy) Chopek of Mount Vernon; a daughter, Michelle (Jim) Wurtz of Mokena, Ill.; five grandchildren, Kendall and Joseph Chopek, Katherine and Allison Wurtz and Anna Michaela Chopek; and two sisters, Antoinetta Amedeo of Akron and Clementine (Augustus) Hall of Tallmadge.

Elvera was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends may call Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home from 2 to 4 p.m. A prayer service will follow at 4 p.m. The family will observe a private graveside service at a later date.
