Janice L. Barrick
FREDERICKTOWN — Janice L. (Brown) Barrick, 78, of 11923 Armentrout Road, Fredericktown, passed away Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008, at Triumph Hospital in Mansfield following an extended illness.
Janice was born April 28, 1929, near Bangs in Knox County to Chester and Pansy (Morey) Brown. She graduated from Utica High School in 1947 and had spent her lifetime in the Knox County area. Janice was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, homemaker, and seamstress. She and her husband, Don, owned and operated Trio Lanes in Fredericktown from 1976 to 1996, where she was also the bookkeeper.
Janice was a 56-year member of the Morgan Grange, was a 4-H advisor, Brownie Troop and Girl Scout Troop leader and was a member of the Community Service Guild of Utica.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 58 years, Donald W. Barrick; her son, Victor (Jill) Barrick of Peachtree City, Ga.; her daughters, Deb (Bob) Kennedy, Wendy (Sonny) Smith, Melinda (Shaun) Stephen, all of Fredericktown, Cindy (Jeff) Justice of Utica and Suzanne (Bill) Riccarido of Granville; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Jim (Jane) Brown of California and Duane (Betty) Brown of Mount Vernon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, James Barrick; her sister, Miriam Hampshire; and a great-granddaughter, April.
Friends may call Wednesday from 3:30 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, where funeral services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Newark Memorial Gardens.
