Delmer D. Breneman

MOUNT VERNON — Delmer D. Breneman, 84, of Fairway Drive, Mount Vernon, passed away Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008, at the Ohio Eastern Star Home in Mount Vernon.

He was born July 16, 1923, in Holmes County to the late Harry and Hazel (Wolf) Breneman. Delmer served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired in 1986 after 37 years of employment with Cooper Energy Services in Mount Vernon. He was a member of Gay Street United Methodist Church, Mount Zion Lodge 9 F&AM and was a former member of the Elks in Mount Vernon. Delmer was an avid golfer and bowler.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Kathleen (McMillan) Breneman; two sons, Jim (Flo) Breneman of Marysville and Dan (Sue) Breneman of Gambier; a daughter, Judy Ann (Chris) Snyder of Bradenton, Fla.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Owen Breneman of Ostrander and Harry (Barbara) Breneman of Newark.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, where a Masonic service will follow at 7 p.m. A funeral will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Dr. David Baker will officiate. Burial with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
