Peter Rutkowski

MOUNT VERNON — Peter Rutkowski, 75, of Mount Vernon died Friday, Feb. 1, 2008, at Whispering Hills Care Center in Mount Vernon.

Peter was born Dec. 18, 1932, in Minsk, White Russia, to Alexander F. and Nadia (Riece) Rutkowski. He was a U.S. citizen and had been a resident of the Knox County area since 1949 and attended Gambier schools. Peter had been employed by Cooper Energy Services in Mount Vernon as a production supervisor for 40 years.

He was a member of the Mount Vernon Baptist Temple, had been a member of the Colonial City Moose Lodge in Mount Vernon since 1950 and was a member of the Leiderkranz in Mansfield.

Surviving are his wife, Agnes (Mowery) Rutkowski, whom he married Sept. 26, 1952; his son, Pieter A. (Allison) Rutkowski of Hawaii; his daughters, Regina (Allan) Olson of Houston, Texas, Tina (John) Furnis of Austin, Texas, Kelly (Chris) Briscoe of Howard and Cinda (Jeff) Fry of Mount Vernon; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; his sister, Maria (Boris) Koriduzki of Mount Vernon; his stepsister, Tania Graves of Mount Vernon; and his half sisters, Galena (Tom) Weiskittle of Sun City, Ariz., and Anna Rutkowsky of New Mexico.

Peter was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, John Rutkowski.

Friends may call Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, where funeral services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Bill Fennell officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
