Ruth Doughty
MOUNT VERNON — Ruth Doughty, 84, of Mount Vernon died Monday, Feb. 4, 2008, at the Country Club Retirement Campus in Mount Vernon.
She was born July 29, 1923, in Canton to Byron and Mollie (Stricker) Cummings and had spent most of her lifetime in Mount Vernon. Ruth was an active member of the Central Church of Christ in Mount Vernon and had been a member of the Mount Vernon Elks Lodge Auxiliary.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Chris Doughty of Newnan, Ga.; her grandchildren, Natalie Ramey and Kevin Doughty; her great-grandchildren, Jacob Ramey, Caleb Ramey, Hailee Doughty and Jordan Doughty; and her sister and best friend, Patty Vantu of Mount Vernon.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, William Doughty; her brother, Warren Cummings; and her sister, Maxine Allen.
The family would like to thank Dr. Brent Nimeth, the staff at Country Club Retirement Campus, her church family and friends. A special thanks to friends Barb Ford, Darlene Theophilus and her sister, Patty, for their love and devotion to Ruth.
Friends may call today from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens with Mr. Kenneth Springer officiating.
