FREDERICKTOWN — Ruth A. (Gibson) Cordle went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008. Ruth passed on shortly after midnight on her 85th birthday, following a presentation of cake and candle and the singing of “Happy Birthday” by her children.

Ruth was born Feb. 5, 1923, to Harry and Marie (Ashwell) Gibson in Toledo. Her father moved the family back to Fredericktown where she spent the rest of her life. After graduation from Fredericktown High School in 1940 she was employed at Cooper Bessemer in Mount Vernon, where she met the love of her life Edward David Cordle. She was preceded in death by her husband Ed in 1995.

Ruth was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Fredericktown where she had served as financial secretary for many years. She was a member of Morning Circle and Mothers Club and enjoyed playing cards and was a member of several euchre clubs. Ruth was the clerk for the village of Fredericktown for over 20 years, retiring in 1987.

Ruth loved her grandchildren dearly and her desire to attend the graduation of all four grandchildren was fulfilled this past summer with a trip to Colorado Springs, Colo., to attend the graduation of her youngest grandson.
