Mary ‘Jane’ Gorley
NEWARK — A funeral service for Mary “Jane” Gorley, 77, of Newark will be held Tuesday, Feb. 12, at 10:30 a.m. at the Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta Funeral & Cremation Service with Pastor Bruce Hissong officiating. Burial will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Gorley died Feb. 8, 2008, at the LPN Healthcare Facility. She was born Nov. 14, 1930, in Martinsburg to the late Wesley Coe and Barbara Ellen (Persinger) Anderson. Mrs. Gorley worked as a care giver for the elderly and previously worked at Hoover Universal in Mount Vernon. She was a member of the Newark Moose Lodge and the Ohio Country Western Music Association.
She is survived by sons, Donald E. (Sheila) Anderson of Newark, Thomas L. (Kaye) Piper of Mount Vernon, Richard G. (Jennifer) Piper of Akron, David G. (Diane) Piper of Newark and Onie R. “Buck” (Pam) Piper of Marengo; daughters, Evelyn Y. (Gary) Peck of Newark, Shelly L. (Victor) Payne of Mount Vernon and Belinda L. Marshall of Springfield; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ruth Anderson of Newark; special friend, Don Cottrell of Akron; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by five brothers, four sisters, one granddaughter and one great-grandson.
Friends may call today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, 59 N. Fifth St., Newark.
