James A. Lyon

MARENGO — James Andrew “Jim” Lyon, 37, of Marengo died Saturday morning, Feb. 9, 2008, at OSU Medical Center in Columbus from injuries sustained in an automobile accident Thursday, Feb. 7.

A lifelong resident of the Marengo area, he was born on June 21, 1970, in Columbus. He was a 1988 graduate of Highland High School and earned an associate arts degree from The Ohio State University in 1992.

He worked eight years in the corrections field at both the Marion and Mansfield Reformatories. Accomplished in all areas of construction and remodeling with Lyon Properties, he more recently worked with Chase Construction Services of Columbus as a drywall installer/finisher.

Jim was a member of the Mansfield Masonic Lodge No 35. One who enjoyed hunting and trapping, he was an outdoors man at heart. He was also an avid coon hunter and an excellent tree climber. In addition, he was extremely artistic and creative. He enjoyed the camaraderie of his many, many friends. Compassionate and tender hearted, he was a loyal man, who was always happiest helping his family and friends, and playing with his nieces and nephews.

He is survived and will be dearly missed by his mother, Marjorie Lyon and her fiancée, Clint Wilhelm, of Sunbury; father and stepmother, Dr. William F. Lyon Ph.D. and Jo Ann Lyon of Marengo; sisters, Cynthia Grizzle and fiancée, Stephen Danglade, of New Albany, Kara (Mike) Grossklaus of New York City; brother, Fred (Beth) Lyon of Marengo; and six nieces and nephews, Nick and Leah Grizzle, Sophia and triplets, William, Jessica, and Madeline Lyon; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, and a large circle of friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his younger brother, Doug Lyon, in 1987.

Friends may call Tuesday, Feb. 12, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Ohio 3 at Ohio 61 in Sunbury, where services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 13, at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Dr. Susan Ritchie officiating. Interment to follow in Caledonia Cemetery at 12:30 p.m.
