Clara Miller
MOUNT VERNON — Clara Ferris Miller, 93, resident of the Country Club Retirement Center in Mount Vernon passed from this life into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday morning, Feb. 10, 2008, at the center.
She was born June 5, 1914, in Adams County, a daughter of the late John and Letha (Nelson) Robbins. Clara was a member of the Covenant Christian Church of God in Mount Vernon. She also volunteered at the Mount Vernon Salvation Army.
Clara is survived by her daughter, Phyllis (Jerry) Barstow of Croton; her son, Charles (Ella) Ferris of Illiopolis, Ill.; stepdaughters, Ellen Tablet of Florida, Elda Cornelius of Mount Vernon, Edna Ormeroid of Marysville, Velma Carpenter of Florida and Silvia Doup of Bellville; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; many stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Clara was preceded in death by her first husband, Ernie Ferris; her second husband, John Miller; a daughter, Lola Ferris Gordon; a son, Clarence Ferris; a stepson, Gene Miller; four sisters; and two brothers.
The family will receive friends at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon, on Tuesday, Feb. 12, from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Tim Overly officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
