Joyce Spielberger
COLUMBUS — Joyce C. Spielberger, 75, of Vernon Road, Columbus, passed away Wednesday evening, Feb. 6, 2008, at her residence following a courageous battle with cancer.
Joyce was born Feb. 11, 1932, at Mount Vernon, a daughter of the late Leon and Zella (Hunter) Mondron. Joyce was a 1950 graduate of the Mount Vernon High School, where she was the 1949 Homecoming Queen and the 1950 Forum Queen. Two years later on April 20, 1952, she married Charles S. Spielberger. She was a member of the Bexley United Methodist Church, she volunteered at Mount Carmel Hospital and when her son, Korby, was growing up she was a Cub Scout Leader. Before retirement, Joyce worked for the TJ Maxx Department Store in Columbus, as a service associate.
Joyce is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, Charles S. Spielberger; her caring children, Korby Spielberger and his wife, Shari of Avon Lake, and Stacey Spielberger and her spouse, Terry Retter of Herndon, Va.; her grandsons, Michael and Jonathan Spielberger of Avon Lake; her brother, Rene Mondron of Mount Vernon; and her sister, Judy Ellis of Mount Vernon.
The family will have a time of remembrance for Joyce on Friday, Feb. 22, at 1 p.m. in the Mausoleum at the Mound View Cemetery on Wooster Road in Mount Vernon. After the time of remembrance, the family and friends will be welcome to the home of Charles and Joyce Spielberger, 896 Vernon Road, Columbus. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Mrs. Spielberger.
