Vivian Pogue
MOUNT VERNON — Vivian Pogue, 76, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008, in Summerville at HillenVale.
Vivian was born Aug. 29, 1931, in Old Hickory, Tenn., to Arthur and Vernie Hammers, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Helen Hammers and Mary Jo Bailey; and a brother, Paul Hammers. Vivian lived most of her life in Dayton, with her husband, Tommie Pogue, of 59 years. She and her husband recently moved to Mount Vernon to be near her daughter, Vicky. Mrs. Pogue was a beloved wife, mother, sibling and friend to many. She was a member of East Dayton Baptist Church in Dayton.
She is survived by her husband, Tommie Pogue; daughter, Vicky Skirvin (Jim), of Mount Vernon; son, Terry Pogue (Debra), of Kettering; sisters, Emma Lee McWhorter (Leon), of Fort Worth, Texas, Pauline Sullivan and Carolyn Fernandez (Andy), of Crossville, Tenn.; a grandson, Nathanael Skirvin, of Nashville, Tenn.; and granddaughters, Courtney Pogue-Fennick (Caleb) and Sarah Pogue of Kettering.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Feb. 25, at noon at the Tobias Funeral Home-Beavercreek Chapel, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Road at Grange Hall Road with Pastor Jerry Siler officiating. Interment will follow in Valley View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of services on Monday.
