Jane E. Engle

HOWARD — Jane Elizabeth Engle, 70, of Apple Valley Drive, Howard, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008, at The Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus.

She was born Aug. 25, 1937, in Plummers Landing, Ky., to the late George and Edith (Butcher) Engle. Jane received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Ohio University, a Master’s of Art from Case Western Reserve University and a master’s in educational administration from Kent State University. She spent her entire life educating and serving her community. She was an active member at the Danville United Methodist Church, the East Knox Lions Club, the Retired Teachers Association of Ohio, and the Apple Valley Fish Club. She served on the Board of Directors of the Apple Valley Property Owner’s Association, the Brown Township Board of Zoning Appeals, and the Sanctuary Community Action in Danville.

She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her beloved friend, Melody Brent of Howard; aunts, Helen Van Blargan of Howard and Frankie Boothe of Stowe; numerous cousins; and a multitude of friends.

Friends may call Friday, Feb. 29, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Danville United Methodist Church. A service celebrating the life of Jane Engle will be held Saturday, March 1, at 11 a.m. at Danville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Doug Sweet officiating. Burial will take place on Monday, March 3, at 1 p.m. in Memorial Park Cemetery in Dayton. The arrangements are under the care and direction of the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home.
