Mary M. Derr
LOUDONVILLE — Mary Margaret Derr, 89, of Loudonville died Saturday morning, March 8, 2008, in Samaritan Regional Health Center, following a brief illness.
Mary was born May 30, 1918, in Millersburg and was the daughter of the late Walter and Sue Ellen (Nye) Straits. She was a 1936 graduate of Millersburg High School, living many years in Loudonville. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, the Ladies Guild, the Mission Society, and Altar Rose Society of the Church. She was a homemaker and enjoyed flower gardening. She married Richard L. Derr on Dec. 27, 1945, and he died Dec. 5, 1986.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Linda Derr of Loudonville, and Joseph and Sharon Derr of Mount Vernon; three daughters and sons-in-law, Rita and Robert Cotter of Grove City, Joan and Michael Few of Reynoldsburg, and Ann and William Thomas of Wooster; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Walter (Ruth) Straits of Fullerton, Calif., and Paul (Susan) Straits of Akron.
She was preceded in death by her husband, and two sisters, Joan Straits and Ruth Tillitski.
Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, March 13, at 1 p.m. in St. Peter Catholic Church, Loudonville, with the Rev. Vincent Hawk officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery, Loudonville. Friends may call Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. in Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home, Loudonville, where a wake service will be held at 7:45 p.m.
