Robert Michelfelder
URBANA — Robert Loyer Michelfelder, 71, of Urbana passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2008, in Mercy Memorial Hospital, Urbana. He was born to the Rev. Arthur and Geraldine Michelfelder on Jan. 27, 1937, in Lakewood.
He was a graduate of Capital University and Evangelical Lutheran Theological Seminary (now Trinity Lutheran Seminary). He was ordained into Christian Ministry in 1963 and faithfully served as pastor at St. Paul Lutheran, North Star; First English Lutheran, Ashville; Zion Lutheran, Jelloway; and Zion Lutheran, West Jefferson.
During his years in Knox County, he served on the board of Knox County Interchurch. He was an active member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Urbana.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Jean (Oehrtman) Michelfelder; three daughters, Kristi (Eric) Leeth of Springfield, Beth (Greg) Stelz of Durango, Colo., and Heidi (Travis) Kern of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; sister, Margaret (Theodore) Stellhorn of Marblehead, Ohio; sister-in-law, Mary Lynn (William Blatchley) Windsor of Mount Kisco, N.Y.; grandchildren, Meghan and David Leeth of Springfield; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
The Service of Celebration will be held Saturday, March 15, at 11 a.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church, 1013 E. Lawn Ave., Urbana, with Pastor Tom Batterman officiating. Visitation will be today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Walter-Schoedinger Funeral Home, 642 S. Main St., Urbana. Burial will follow in David’s Cemetery, Kettering.
