Constance I. Gilliland
NEWARK — A funeral service for Constance Imogene Gilliland, 99, of Newark, formerly of Fredericktown, will be conducted Tuesday, March 18, at 1 p.m. at Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21 St., Newark, with the Rev. Dr. Keith Bohley presiding. Interment will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Gilliland, a homemaker and former school teacher, died Thursday, March 13, 2008, at the Inn at Sharonbrooke. She was born June 8, 1908, in East Liverpool to her late parents, the Rev. George Leonard and Edna Earle (Castner) Westlake. Mrs. Gilliland graduated in 1938 from Geneva College in Beaver Falls, Pa., where she earned her teaching degree. She was also a member of Fredericktown United Methodist Church and was deeply devoted to her faith.
She is survived by her nephew, James “Wally” Westlake and his wife, Shirley, of Newark; as well as several great-nieces, great-nephews and their families.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Gilliland; brother, William Kenneth Westlake; sister-in-law, Rhomeyn Ester (Hamilton) Westlake; nephew, George Harry Westlake; and niece, Mary Helen Gordon.
