Judith ‘Judi’ Poland
MOUNT VERNON — Judith Lynn “Judi” Poland, 52, of Mount Gilead died unexpectedly Monday, March 17, 2008, at her residence.
She was born April 3, 1955, in New Castle, Pa., the daughter of the late Donald Clayton and Phyllis Jane (Robbins) Lenhardt. Judi grew up in Edinburg, Pa., and graduated from the Mount Vernon Academy in the class of 1973. She had lived in Mount Gilead for the past 30 years.
Early on she worked for Century 21 as a Realtor. Though, she will be remembered as a cashier at Kroger’s, where she had worked since their inception, nearly 20 years. Her outgoing nature and bubbly personality were instrumental in the enjoyment of her job. If you were ever in Judi’s line you knew she had a real zest for life. Judi was also very talkative and would become irritated if her home phone needed repaired.
Well rounded, Judi would fish wherever and whenever she had a chance and could also do sign language. A skill she enjoyed teaching her grandchildren. She was a member of the UFCW 1054.
While Judi loved the multiple aspects of her life, her most treasured roles were those of mother, grandmother, and sister. She could not spend enough time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Judi was also a huge fan of the NFL and her beloved Pittsburgh Steelers.
Left to cherish her memory are her two children and their fiancés, Angela Caudill and Juan Hernandez, and Andrew Poland and Rebecca Barbour, all of Mount Gilead; six grandchildren, Jasmine Applegate, Kristopher Poland, Alexis Green, Darreyane Caudill, Kaitlyn Poland and Dalaynie Hernandez; her twin sister, Jayne (Daniel) Poland of Mount Vernon; her two brothers, Glen (Bea) Lenhardt of Tijeras, New Mexico, and Terry Lenhardt of New Bedford, Pa.; two nephews, Bruce Lenhardt and Mark Poland; and lifelong friend, Ron Poland.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Bruce Lenhardt.
Pastor Tom Hughes will conduct services on Friday, March 21, at 7 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Homes, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until the time of the service. Private family burial will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses, c/o Snyder Funeral Home, 76 S. Main St., Mount Gilead, OH 43338. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.snyderfuneralhomes.com.
