Arlene Alta Myers
MOUNT VERNON — Arlene Alta Myers, 91, of Maplewood Avenue in Mount Vernon, went to be with her Lord on Friday, March 21, 2008.
She lived with her husband at The Laurels of Mount Vernon, where she died after a brief illness. Arlene was born Jan. 19, 1917, in Hollidaysburg, Pa., and was the daughter of the late William and Clara Fisher.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Samuel A. Myers, currently residing at The Laurels; daughters, Martha (Bob) Gunnoe of Independence, Calif., and Miriam (W.L.) Roller of Findlay; her son, David (Linda) Myers of Brandenburg, Ky.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Arlene was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.
She enjoyed her garden, sewing and many crafts. She was a homemaker who devoted herself to her husband and children. In the short time she was at The Laurels, she endeared herself to the staff and other residents with her cheery attitude and witty sayings.
The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home, 212 N. Main St., Mount Vernon, where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
