Donald F. Shrock
MANSFIELD — A funeral service for Donald F. Shrock, 86, of Mansfield, formerly of Utica, will be held Friday, March 28, at 2 p.m., at Law-Baker Funeral Home with Bruce Hissong officiating. Burial will follow in South Lawn Cemetery.
Donald died March 24, 2008, at MedCentral Health System, Mansfield, after a brief illness. He was born Aug. 28, 1921, in Newark, to the late Ray E. and Effie (Slagle) Shrock.
He is survived by sons and daughter-in-law, Gary and Mary Shrock of Mansfield, Randall M. Shrock of Mansfield; daughters and son-in-law, Norma G. Haught of Galion, Janice A. and J.R. Sprague of Mansfield; one brother and sister-in-law, Ray (Jeanne) Shrock of Sedalia, Mo.; sister, Mina Darnes of Newark.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Nola Landis Shrock; two brothers, Harold and David Shrock; three sisters, Ruth Trace, Helen Gravens and Dorothy Abbott; and a great-great-granddaughter.
As a plasterer, Don’s craftsmanship is evident in the restoration of the intricate plaster moldings of the Renaissance Theatre, Mansfield. As a gifted guitarist, his legacy survives in many area musicians including his son, two grandsons and great-grandson.
Don and his companion Joy Allison had a passion for square dancing that they shared with their many friends. He was a member of both the Johnny Appleseed Squares and the Shelby Cloverleafs.
Friends may call Wednesday, March 26, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Snyder Funeral Home, Marion Avenue Chapel, Mansfield; and Thursday, March 27, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Law-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N Main St., Utica.
