Walter Gamble Sr.

RISING FAWN, Ga. — Walter Loyd Gamble Sr., 81, departed this life Tuesday, March 18, 2008.

He was born in Hollywood, Ala., to the late Ollie Aubrey Gamble and Nannie Lou Loyd McGee. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and later retired as a horse trainer.

Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Daisy Gamble of Rising Fawn, Ga.; children and their spouses, Cindy and Danny Stancil of Chattanooga, Tenn., Wendy and Gary Roach of Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., Walter Gamble Jr. of Rising Fawn, Ga.; sisters, Aubrey McCurdy and Merle Salmon, both of Chattanooga, Tenn., Hattie “Pat” Bates of Ringgold, Ga.; grandchildren, Aaron, Jessica and Ruth Gamble, Daniel and Tanner Stancil, Adrienne Lawson; special niece, Debbie Youngblood; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside service was March 21 in Chattanooga National Cemetery with the Revs. Eric Youngblood and John Teague officiating. Arrangements were by W.L. Wilson and Sons Funeral Home, Fort Oglethorpe, Ga.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, Tenn.
