Alice A. Cole
RAVENNA — Alice Amelia Cole, 87, of Ravenna, a former Fredericktown resident, died Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at the Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna.
Alice was born April 20, 1920, near Mount Vernon to Henry Clinton Mills and Mary Edna (Bennington) Mills. She was a 1941 graduate of the Newark School of Nursing. Alice had a long career in nursing; her last position was director of nurses at the Morrow Manor Nursing Care Center in Chesterville. She married Maurice Raymond Cole on May 16, 1943, and lived in Steubenville, where she raised her family. Later she and Maurice moved back to the small town life she loved in Fredericktown. Alice enjoyed her volunteer work with Interchurch, coordinating food and clothing for those in need. She was a quiet, caring person of faith who loved to read and knit, but enjoyed her family most of all. Alice spent the last years of her life lovingly cared for at Longmeadow Care Center in Ravenna.
Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-laws, Michael R. and Maureen Cole of Kent, Ohio, and Mitchell M. and Kay Cole of Savannah, Ga.; her son-in-law, Dr. Robert W. (Sandy) Burchfield of Indianapolis, Ind.; grandchildren, Emily, Adam, Andrew, Benjamin, Joshua, Seth, Kristin and Danielle; great-grandson, Beckham; and her brothers and sisters-in-law, D. Wayne “Jake” and Wanza Mills of Savannah, Ga., and Dale M. and Mable Mills of Orient, Ohio.
Besides her parents, Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice Cole; her daughter, Sue Burchfield; and her sister, Jean Stout; and two brothers, Harold Mills and Laird Mills.
Friends may call Friday from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown, where funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Keith Bohley officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Cemetery in Fredericktown.
