MOUNT VERNON — Virginia M. Mossholder, 84, of Cliff Street, Mount Vernon, passed away Friday morning, March 28, 2008, at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon.
She was born Dec. 13, 1923, in Utica, to the late Henry Wilson and Julia Gertrude (Freeman) Ferguson. Virginia was a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, where she was active in Ruth Group and the Christian Women’s Fellowship. Virginia was a volunteer for the Red Cross in Mount Vernon assisting with the Bloodmobile. She also had worked for Foster’s Pharmacy and the Hallmark Store when it was on Main Street.
Virginia is survived by her loving husband, Ivan Mossholder, whom she married Feb. 25, 1950; her caring daughters, Carol (David) Vernon of Mount Vernon and Janice Mossholder of Boston, Mass.; her grandchildren, Tara Howard and Adrian Vernon; her great-grandsons, Noah Smith and Zachary Dementry; her brother, Charles (Teri) Ferguson of Perrysville; her sister, Helen (Harley) Dexter of Mount Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held in Mound View Cemetery on Wednesday, April 2, beginning at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jamie Gump officiating. The Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Mrs. Mossholder.
