Madeline Smithhisler
LOUDONVILLE — Madeline E. Smithhisler, 80, of Loudonville, died Monday morning, March 31, 2008, in Samaritan Hospital, Ashland, after an extended illness.
Miss Smithhisler was born Jan. 6, 1928, on the family farm in Green Township, Ashland County, the daughter of the late J. Walter and Martha (Frank) Smithhisler. She was a 1946 graduate of Loudonville High School and lifelong Loudonville area resident. She worked on the family farm for many years until 1973 when she became the custodian at the C.E. Budd School in Loudonville, until she retired in 1991. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Loudonville, Mohican Historical Society and the former Loudonville Lioness Club. She enjoyed quilting, gardening and traveling in the United States and Canada with her sister.
She is survived by her sister, Nellie Williams of Loudonville; and her brother, James Smithhisler of Loudonville.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, April 2, at 11 a.m. in Loudonville Cemetery with the Rev. Terry E. Ruther officiating. Friends may call today from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home, Loudonville.
