Dorothy King

DANVILLE — Dorothy King, 80, of Danville, formerly of Mount Vernon, died Monday, March 31, 2008, at the Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon.

Dorothy was born June 21, 1927, in Gambier to Arthur “Dutch” and Betty (Jones) Huffman. Dorothy was a 1945 graduate of Gambier High School and had spent her lifetime in Knox County area. She was a member of the Grove Church of Christ near Gambier and the AMVETS Post 95 in Mount Vernon.

Surviving are her significant other, Lowell Hager of Danville; her daughter, Carolyn Jones of Mansfield; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Vivian (John) Lahmon of Mount Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Philip E. King; her daughters, Sharon Ott and Ellen K. King; and her sisters, Betty Marie Huffman and Shirley Rooch.

Funeral service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, where friends may call one hour prior. The Rev. Doug DeMoss will officiate.
