Joanne D. Bowser

NEWARK — A funeral service for Joanne D. Bowser, 78, of Newark will be Thursday, April 10, at 11 a.m. at Law-Baker Funeral Home, with Pastor Wes Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens.

Joanne died April 6, 2008, at Arlington Care Center, Newark. She was born Dec. 18, 1929, in Columbus to the late William and Viola Ritter.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan A. King of Bruseton, W.Va.; son and daughter in-law, Sam and Marcy Bowser of Newark; daughter and son-in-law, Sally and Larry Gockenbach of St. Louisville; and son and daughter-in-law, Thomas A. and Patricia Bowser of Brownsville; daughters-in-law, Shirlene Bowser and Regina McKnight; 19 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Jeannine and Glenard Goodyear of Sunbury; brother, Jamie Ritter of Columbus; and her dog, Nipper, who was a loving companion.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John O. Bowser, who passed away Nov. 1, 1993; adopted parents, Rev. Lot C. and Mae Wills, who raised her with fondest loving care; sons, Donald O. and Daniel C. Bowser; sister, Tammy Ritter.

Friends may call Wednesday, April 9, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Law-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N Main St., Utica.
