Norma L. Beck

HOWARD — Norma Lee (Vallandingham) Beck, 75, of Apple Valley died Thursday, April 10, 2008, at her residence.

She was born Dec. 9, 1932, in Carrollton, Ky., to Warren M. and Elvyra G. (Krutel) Vallandingham. On Aug. 9, 1952, she was married to Charles Beck. She was a member of the St. Luke Catholic Church in Danville, and she loved tending to her garden. Norma had a great heart for life. Her gentle and calm spirit touched all who knew her. Her battle with cancer was noble, courageous and inspiring. She trusted in what God gave her in life and was joyful throughout it all.

She is survived by her husband, Charles of Howard; sons, Charles Beck of Chardon, Robert Beck of Cleveland, Andrew (Bonita) Beck of Phoenix, Ariz., Matthew Beck of Painesville and Michael (Mary Ann) Beck of Brighton, Mich.; daughters, Mary Lynn (Gordon) Hyde of Gahanna, Jennifer (Bob) Ritchie of Painesville and Amy (Tom) Elszasz of Perry; a sister, Joan McMurrer of Upper Marlboro, Md.; brothers, Jack Vallandingham of Lansing, Kan., James Pickard Vallandingham of Panama City, Fla., and Richard Vallandingham of Buford, S.C.; 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Patrick Vallandingham.

A funeral mass will be held today at 11 a.m. at St. Luke Catholic Church, 307 S. Market St., Danville, with the Rev. F. Richard Snoke officiating. Interment will be at a later date.
