Warren W. Costick
MOUNT VERNON — The Rev. Warren W. Costick, 83, of Mount Vernon died Friday evening, April 11, 2008, at the Country Club Retirement Campus.
He was born March 7, 1925, in McKeesport, Pa., and was the son of the late Joseph and Lucy (Cook) Costick. Warren graduated from McKeesport High School in 1942. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II at Fort Campbell, Ky. After the war he graduated from Otterbein College in 1951 and then furthered his studies at the Evangelical School of Theology. He married his wife, Mildred Beck Costick, on July 14, 1948.
Warren entered in the ministry of United Brethren Church, which later merged with the Methodist Church. He served several churches in Eastern Pennsylvania and United Methodist Churches in Ohio. His love of ministry and music began at the young age of 10. He began music lessons with the piano and accordion along with vocal talent. These talents were used throughout his lifetime in his ministries. Warren retired in June 1989 from the East Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church with 44 years of faithful service.
Warren was a member of the Mulberry Street United Methodist Church and the AMVETS Post 95 in Mount Vernon.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Mildred Beck Costick of Mount Vernon; a son and daughter-in-law, Neil (Pamela) Costick of Mount Vernon; grandson, Aaron (Melissa) Costick of Mansfield; two great-granddaughters, Haley and Ashley; an aunt and several cousins.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 19, at noon at the Mulberry Street United Methodist Church with the Revs. Bill Norman and Dan Taylor officiating. Private burial will be in Pioneer Cemetery in Westerville. The Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is handling the funeral arrangements for the Costick family.
