Dorothy H. Miller
DANVILLE — Dorothy Helen Miller, 84, died Sunday, April 13, 2008, at her residence.
She was born June 14, 1923, to George and Sophie Miller on a farm near Millwood in Knox County. She graduated from high school in Farmingdale, N.Y., and graduated from Spencerian Business College in Cleveland. She returned to Farmingdale and was an office worker at Liberty Aircraft and Republic Aircraft. After being laid off from them, she went to work for the U.S. Postal Service in Hicksville, N.Y. She retired in 1977 after the death of her sister, Marian, and following a surgery, she stayed with her brother and sister-in-law in Newark for a few months before moving to Danville where she has been a resident for the past 30 years.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Charley, Mealey, Raymond, Louis and Silas; and three sisters, Marian Miller Allen, who raised Dorothy after the death of her mother, Sadie Miller and Jessica Sinecropi.
She is survived by two nephews and two nieces, Donald and Linda Miller of Redwood, Calif., and Robert and Kathleen Allen of Massapequa, N.Y. Dorothy states that she was rewarded with a sound mind and a sincere friend, Pat M. Sturgeon.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 16, at 11 a.m. at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville. The Rev. Doug Sweet will officiate. Burial will be in Millwood Cemetery. Visiting will be one hour prior to the service time. Information is available at www.fischerfuneralhome.com.
