Kathryn S. Wood
SAN CARLOS, Calif. — Kathryn Sue (Lifer) Wood was born in Mount Vernon to Corda and George Lifer. She died March 24, 2008, at the age of 74.
She was reared on a farm and graduated from Danville High School. She was active in her church and served as pianist and organist. She attended Capital University in Columbus and, upon graduation, moved to California where she was employed as a parish worker. Then, for 41 years, she worked in the Financial Aid Office of Stanford University in Palo Alto, Calif.
She was a faithful member of Messiah Lutheran Church and served in many capacities within the congregation. She was one of the “regulars” helping out with the annual Rummage Sale and, most recently, serving in the Congregational Council. She will be missed by her Messiah family.
She is survived by her husband, William F. Wood III; and brothers, Donald Edward of Naples, Fla., and David Charles of Lancaster.
Funeral service was held at Messiah Lutheran Church. Burial was in Skylawn Cemetery, San Mateo, Calif. Memorial gifts may be sent to Messiah Lutheran Church-Organ Fund, 1835 Valota Road, Redwood City, CA 94061.
