Francis E. Buxton
WARSAW — Francis Eugene Buxton, 86, of Township Road 59 died May 5, 2008 at his residence.
He was born Aug. 12, 1921, in Carrara, Italy, to the late Selby G. and Edith Jane (McNary) Buxton. He was a retired farmer and custodian at the Warsaw School. He was a member of the Nellie Chapel United Methodist Church, Bethlehem Grange and the Coshocton County Farm Bureau. He was a former 4-H advisor and an avid collector. He was the Warsaw Lions Club 2001 Community Person of the Year and an honorary member of the River View FFA. He served four years in the Marine Corps in Okinawa during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Irene (Porteus) Buxton, whom he married April 8, 1954; two sons, Robert (Bev) Buxton of Nellie and James (Sharon) Buxton of Warsaw; daughter, Susan McCurdy of Warsaw; eight grandchildren, Emily (Ryan) Adams, Jesse Buxton, Amanda (Tony) Aelker, Charity (Mike) Danjczek, Jim (Kecia) Buxton, Zane (Cindy) Buxton, Tai and Bekah McCurdy; five great-grandchildren, Nathan Adams, Luciana Aelker, Joshua, Kaylah and Sasha Danjczek; and a brother, J. Alberto (Elda) Buxton of North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Grace (Porteus) Buxton, whom he married Dec. 2, 1944; she died May 1, 1953. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Martha; a granddaughter, Margery; brothers, George, Herbert and William; and a sister, Lelia.
Funeral service will be Friday, May 9, at 11 a.m. at the Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw, with the Rev. Frank Dawson officiating. Burial will be in the South Lawn Cemetery, Coshocton. Visitation is Thursday, May 8, from 5 to 8 p.m. and until service time on Friday. Visit www.fischerfuneralhome.com.
